NOTE: this is not a baby sitting service; far from it, these trips are an opportunity to spend time together in a truly stimulating way. We don't operate sanitized coach tours, but we do run comfortable journeys that allow you to mingle with the locals and sense the pulse of the places you visit. Expect to be active. Thrilling adventures is the simplest way to describe these trips. As you'd expect, activity is the key. Though we're talking cycling, kayaking and walking rather than rock climbing or paragliding - we'll leave the extreme sports to the experts! Active trips offer real life experiences, combining a challenging day's hike, say, with a night's stay in a hilltribe village. You don't need to be super fit for all Active trips, but they're ideal if you want a physical challenge along with plenty of cultural interaction.  Independent ! These itineraries can accommodate a special interest, such as cookery or meditation, or can be as simple as a beach break. Big adventures through big landscapes; whether it's a road trip along world famous highways or an off the beaten track adventure along rugged roads, on an Overland adventure you'll experience the sights, sounds and smells of the world up close. Travelling in purpose built vehicles you'll explore bustling cities or isolated communities, search for wildlife, visit vast national parks, see changing landscapes and camp in tents. On an Overland journey you're more than just a passenger, you're part of the crew, pitching in to set up camp, shop for food and even cook. Some travel companies equate travel expertise with a large raft of itineraries. Not us, the tours we'll lead you on represent the very best each country has to offer and suit a variety of interests. Our selection is comprehensive. Each journey is paced to allow time to develop familiarity with the key places we visit. We usually spent two or three nights in an area, preferring to give you a genuine taste of each destination. For several trips, we can offer both “standard” and “superior” options. The standard options stay in good value, well located accommodation while the superior options include stays in some of Indochina’s most historic and atmospheric hotels.  Putting Something Back... Indochina Holiday Travel supports the Fred Hollows Foundation and their worthy work to cure cataract blindness in the region, and the Loreto Foundation in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), which assists disadvantaged, poor and disabled children through education. We also support other organisations throughout Asia dedicated to the improvement of education, health and living standards. Many of our travellers are keen to contribute to the countries they visit. This may be as simple as the interaction they have with local people – their efforts to build an understanding of cultural nuances, history or a simple exchange of stories with local people in a village, restaurant or school. Others are interested to make a monetary contribution to organisations active in the advancement of child welfare, education or health in the region they are visiting. Your tour leader or local guide will be more than happy to assist you in making contact with local organisations.  Volunteering ! More than a holiday, Volunteering is an opportunity to really make a difference in the world. Spend your days living and working in a remote village and getting involved in community development. Working closely with the locals you could find yourself renovating a school, building a health clinic or teaching the kids. With plenty of free time to explore the region, this is the ideal getaway for those who want to do more than sightsee, they want to become a part of local life.
